The idea of the week

This is the Whitsundays week we book most. Board at Airlie Beach, work north through the islands with the south-east trades behind you, spend a day on the outer reef, and give Whitehaven the whole day it deserves before a last night at Hamilton Island and the flight home. Every anchorage is on the sheltered north or west side of an island, which is what the trades decide here, and every hop is short enough that the toys are in the water by ten.

Whitehaven is never the last morning. You want the dawn walk to the Hill Inlet lookout, the beach to yourselves before the day boats arrive and Chalkies across the water in the afternoon, and you cannot do that with the bags packed. Superyacht charters start on any day of the week, so the route stands on its own. Legs are approximate, at a steady ten knots, and the captain adjusts them for the weather and the swell on the day.

Woven into the week

What the crew arrange along the way

The parts of the week that need a phone call before you arrive: tables, guides, instructors and the toys on deck.

Whitehaven, the whole day

Never a last morning: first light at Hill Inlet, the beach picnic at low tide and Chalkies in the afternoon, with the night before at Tongue Bay.

  • Hill Inlet timed to the tide
  • The beach picnic on the sand
  • Chalkies and the crew's barbecue at five
The tables we can get you into

Bommie at the Hamilton Island Yacht Club for the best dinner in the islands, Pebble Beach at qualia for lunch, and Fish D'vine in Airlie the night before you board.

  • Bommie, Hamilton Island Yacht Club
  • Pebble Beach at qualia
  • Fish D'vine, Airlie Beach
Heart Reef by air

A helicopter or seaplane from Hamilton Island, a lap of Heart Reef and a landing on Whitehaven. The one flight worth taking on a boat holiday, because the reef only makes sense from above.

  • Seaplane or helicopter
  • A lap of Heart Reef
  • Landing on Whitehaven
Diving the outer reef

Bait Reef's Stepping Stones for certified divers, and a beginners' course on a calm reef day for anyone who wants to learn on the trip.

  • Bait Reef and the Stepping Stones
  • Twenty metres of visibility
  • Beginners' courses on calm days
The toys, every day

Paddleboards, kayaks, seabobs and jetskis in the water by the time breakfast is cleared, everywhere except Cid Harbour.

  • Paddleboards and kayaks
  • Seabobs and jetskis
  • Snorkelling gear for the whole group

Make it two weeks

One more week, one more coast

A week is one country. Two weeks reaches the neighbour across the water, and the crossing is part of the trip. Each of these joins onto this week; choose one and we send both weeks, day by day, as one plan.

Back to Whitsundays

The other weeks we have planned on this coast, and when to go.
