Geirangerfjord, Ålesund · The Seven Sisters, then an Art Nouveau town
Into Geirangerfjord, the one on every Norway poster, past the Seven Sisters waterfall. In the evening, Ålesund, rebuilt in Art Nouveau after the fire of 1904, and the view from Mount Aksla. North again overnight.
The idea of the week
Norway's whole coast in one week, from the western fjords, across the Arctic Circle, to Lofoten and Tromsø. It is the trip with the biggest sense of journey: the long legs run overnight, so you wake up somewhere new every morning and the sun barely sets.
Geirangerfjord on the second day, the hole through Torghatten, a ceremony on deck as you cross the Arctic Circle, a night at Børge Ousland's island at Manshausen, Lofoten's peaks, then out to the whales off Andøya before Tromsø. One way, so you fly into Bergen and home from Tromsø.
The days are the route we would suggest. On board, the captain sets the final one around the ice, the weather and the wildlife, and every week can be reshaped around your group.
What the week costs
The yacht's published weekly rate, plus an Advance Provisioning Allowance, customarily 30 percent, for fuel, food, drink and berths, plus local VAT where it applies. Every listing shows its rate.

Everything we know about Northern Europe: when to go, where the fleet is and the other weeks we have planned.
Open Northern EuropeWoven into the week
The parts of the week that need a phone call before you arrive: tables, guides, instructors and the toys on deck.
We always recommend it. A full-time guide is what opens the doors: the orca days, the Sámi families, the farm dinners, the hidden beaches the guidebooks do not have. It is the Explorer level on ARCTIC's listing, and where we start every plan.
ARCTIC carries one of the largest tender fleets in charter: Zodiacs and RIBs for the glacier fronts and the whales, kayaks and paddleboards for the still mornings, dive gear and room for an ROV. Wherever she anchors, there is a way onto the water or the ice.
A wood-fired sauna on the water, with a jump into the fjord between rounds. The Norwegian way to end any day.
Someone always goes first. A swim in the fjord or among the ice, straight into the Jacuzzi on deck or the sauna, and a story you will tell for years.
A helicopter on board turns a glacier into a lunch stop. Landings on the ice, flights over the peaks, a dinner reached by air. Where it can fly depends on local permits, which we arrange before the charter.
Every week here is seven nights because that is how ARCTIC's programme runs, but any of them can grow. Two regions back to back is the trip of a lifetime: the fjords then the Arctic Circle, or Iceland then East Greenland.
